Verified Cooking class and Cultural Experience extraordinaire! The day started with a history lesson and plan for the day. Then we walked to the Old Town, stopping at the fish monger, produce market, tortilla shop and butcher to purchase the food for our meal. We sampled a fresh corn tortilla warm off the press. Some of us walked back, others went in the van with the groceries. Then the cooking began in the roof top kitchen! Chef Julio assigned different tasks to each person, so the only downside was that you didn't get to see how everything was made. We made 3 kinds of salsa, guacamole, 3 sauces, ceviche, tortilla chips and then enjoyed our "Taco Bar". Then Chef made his "secret mole", which we enjoyed with chicken and rice. Finally we sampled Chile relenos. Mmmm! Chef gave us lots of tips on buying produce, proper ways to slice and dice, and we each left with a digital cookbook! It was a full day, 8:45am to 3pm. I highly recommend this activity!
